Contemporary Philosophy

In order to examine the current possibilities of the philosophical discourse, the broadest and more ambitious line of research consists in deepening and studying the main philosophers and modern and contemporary school of thoughts. The priority key for the reading -and not the only one- is the one given by the category of the subject: centrality, deconstruction and reconstruction. We also confer great importance to the problem of experience (and the language that is proper to it), considered by several authors the real underlying problem of the technique era.

 

Political Philosophy

So that philosophy can be able to assume its political responsibility, it requires to tenciously continue the great debates based on the following thematic cores: on power (biopolitics, modernization and dissemination), on history (dialectics, interruption, memory), about political justice (social state, minimal state and rights), on democracy (participation and institutions) and on the situation of the philosophy in society.

 

Public Ethics

In addition to the diving into the issues of ethics foundation, this research study reflects upon Bioethics, ethics of the organizations, ethics of social services, etc., with the focus on core issues such as the transparency in the public institutions.

 

Philosophy and mental health

It is a line of research addressed not only to the aspects of the ethical medico-sanitary care, but also to the very narrow relationship that exists between philosophy -understood socratically as the care of the soul-, psychiatry and psychology. This research is developed in collaboration·with Pere Claver Hospital Foundation.

 

The human condition in the age of biotechnology

Biotechnology is the highest expression of the possibility of transforming ourselves. Reflection and debate on the scope and significance of this transformation have already been initiated today by thinkers such as Sloterdijk, Habermas, Agamben i Žižek, among others. Our goal is, in this sense, to keep on and deepen this topic, which will most likely be one of the most controversial ones in the first half of the century.
